Yorkshire County Fish Shop
Quick Service Kiosk located at EPCOT
Disney Meal Pricing: $
Best For: British Chips
Location
Have you ever been to a proper English “chippy”? A classic, sizzling shop where nothing but fried fish and thick-cut fries are served up en-masse to hungry visitors, often piled high in newspaper. Yorkshire County Fish Shop is Walt Disney World’s answer to these beloved establishments, and guests can give it a try in none other than the UK pavilion at EPCOT.
The name “Yorkshire County” actually nods to the original sponsor of this restaurant, a famous Yorkshire-originating fish and chip company named Harry Ramsdens. While this sponsorship ended in 2010, the Northen England county name still stands, no doubt evoking all kinds of hometown pride within any Brits that find themselves “across the pond”.
Standing right there on the World Showcase promenade, the slate-roofed building that houses the fish shop may look unassuming from the outside, but there’s nothing but the pinnacle of classic British grub to be found within. It’s loud, it’s quick, it’s greasy… and everything about it is comforting, warm, and familiar.
As a quick-service dining location with a walk-up window, there’s no inside seating available to guests here. However, this just enables folk to make use of the pretty, lagoon-side seating around the World Showcase waterfront, or perhaps take their meal deeper into the picturesque gardens of the UK pavilion. With live musicians frequently playing in the quaint pavilion bandstand, it’s always going to be a fun spot to enjoy a bite to eat!
Menu
What could possibly be found on the menu in a fish and chip shop, I hear you ask? Well, just that. Fish and Chips… and nothing else!
I mean, what more would you want? It’s important to note that, when we say “chips,” we don’t mean chips. We mean British chips. Kind of along the same lines as a French fry, but instead thick, steak-cut tastiness, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Cover them with salt and vinegar, and you’ll be comforted for days.
Then you’ve got the white fish, which here is served Beer-Battered for extra tastiness. It’s flaky and soft on the inside with a crunchy fried batter, also perfect served covered with lashings of vinegar and salt. Ketchup is a classic condiment for chips, but the pickle-y zing of Tartare Sauce is what you’ll want on your fish!
If you’re not feeling the fish, chips can be ordered alone as a side, just like you’d order in a cone from a classic UK “chippy”.
The menu may be small here, but it’s done right. A consistent favorite among guests looking for a true taste of the UK, it’s definitely worth a try on any World Showcase tour.
To Drink
Fish and chips make quite a stodgy meal, so you’re going to want something good to wash it down with!
A range of assorted fountain beverages are available at this shop, as well as Joffrey’s Coffee. We’re in the UK, so of course Twining’s English Breakfast Tea can also be ordered!
But Beer is certainly the star here, with a small range of beers and lagers available on draft. They do go great with chips, after all!
Kid-Friendly Options
It’s really only fish and chips on the menu here, so if you’ve got fussy younger eaters or you’re looking for a well-rounded meal for them, you might want to look elsewhere!
Special Dietary Requirements
While Walt Disney World aims to be sensitive to those with particular dietary restrictions or requirements, the limited menu at Yorkshire County Fish Shop will likely not be suitable for all.
