Guide to Park Hopping at Walt Disney World

Throughout this guide, we’ll refer to a practice called Park Hopping. It’s not exactly a complex conversation, but we figured we’d better explain it to you anyway. So, what is Park Hopping?

Park Hopping

Walt Disney World owns and operates four different theme parks. Disney also sells several different tiers of admission tickets and Annual Passes, which we discuss elsewhere in this guide.

Some of those tickets will entitle you to admission to a single theme park. Others will give you authorization to visit any currently open Disney theme park on the Orlando campus.

Park Hopper Option

Obviously, the latter tickets are more valuable, as they open a wealth of options for you during your Disney visit. The company calls it the Park Hopper option.

We’ll note that Park Hopper’s rules vary, depending on the kind of ticket you purchase. For the standard, date-based tickets, you’re free to Park Hop whenever you like.

Disney doesn’t know which park you’ll visit first anyway. So, the company doesn’t care that you’re going to one of the others soon afterward.

Guests using the tickets that require theme park reservations must play by different rules.  This probably won’t apply to you, but just in case that it does, here’s what you need to know.

Anyone who booked a Park Pass must check into the theme park where they scheduled it. Then, once they arrive at said park, they’re free to Park Hop wherever they want.

Basically, all Park Hopping means is that you can merrily bounce around Disney World theme parks. In this vernacular, you’re hopping from park to park.
