Walt Disney World owns and operates two entertainment districts: the modest Disney’s Boardwalk and the more extensive Disney Springs.
We’ve got nothing against the BoardWalk, but describing it the same way as Disney Springs is akin to calling a kid throwing a football in the backyard the same as Lamar Jackson.
In simplest terms, Disney Springs would be like Times Square in New York if Times Square didn’t suck. You’ll never feel more like a tourist than when you visit Disney Springs.
We mean that in the best possible way, too. You’ll wish you had a lot more time to spend here, as Disney Springs could be an entire vacation unto itself.
Disney has populated this entertainment district with countless restaurants, shops, and more than a few unique activities. As much as we rave about the World Showcase at EPCOT, Disney Springs is like that on a grander scale.
So, here’s our guide to Disney Springs, a place that will distract you away from the parks, but you won’t care. You’ll be having too much fun!
About Disney Springs
You may hear people refer to this place as Downtown Disney or maybe even Pleasure Island. In fact, Disneyland Resort still hosts an entertainment district named Downtown Disney.
As for Pleasure Island, that was formerly a section of Disney World’s version of Downtown Disney. It’s gone now, as is that name. A few years ago, Disney got wise.
The company extended its theme beyond the parks to the place where people wanted to buy lots of merchandise. Let’s just say that was a financially brilliant decision.
The new Disney Springs is divided into four sections: The Landing, Marketplace, Town Center, and West Side.
Stylistically, each section features its own theming that Disney claims reflects the time period of its setting. We’re just gonna level with you, though.
You don’t need to sweat the details here, and if you notice the theming, great! You’re really just here to shop and have fun. Frankly, it’d be hard NOT to do that at Disney Springs.
Rather than obsess on arcane details about, say, West Side, we’re just gonna tell you that all of these “Neighborhoods” host shops, restaurants, and bars. That’s all you’ll care about during your visit.
You’ll find 93 shops, 70 dining experiences, and 27 places to play (Disney’s description, not ours) at Disney Springs. That’s nearly 200 activities at Disney Springs!
Also, that number will fluctuate, depending on when you read this. Disney takes pride in the way it refreshes the entertainment complex, constantly switching out unpopular experiences for new ones that guests may want.
For example, one place we won’t mention in detail is LEVEL99, which has a nebulous opening date. However, this unique activity is like stepping into a live video game.
You’ll participate in challenges, score points, and try to earn bragging rights over your friends. It’s like the next evolution after escape rooms, with Disney Springs being one of the first places to host LEVEL99.
That’s just one of many novelties at Disney Springs. You’ll also find a Harley-Davidson shop, a Cirque du Soleil show made just for Disney, and a sports bar with several bowling alleys!
Friends, Disney Springs is an entity unto itself. So, let’s quickly hit the highlights in each Neighborhood. Note that we won’t do them all since turnover occurs so frequently.
We’re emphasizing the experiences that appear stable and unlikely to change anytime soon…and there’s a chance we get some of those wrong! Disney Springs is quite the action spot.
Town Center
We’re not going alphabetically here for a good reason. Most of you will be tourists arriving at Disney Springs via bus. So, you won’t need to worry about the parking garages, although we will discuss those at the end.
Instead, you’ll enter Disney Springs at – you guessed it! – Town Center. Fortunately, that’s an action spot in this area, as it should be since it’s right by the bus depot.
You’ll find some fascinating shopping opportunities here, including the aforementioned Harley-Davidson. We’re not saying you should buy a motorcycle while you’re at Disney Springs, but it’s a fascinating place to explore.
Kate Hudson’s Fabletics brand and UNIQLO sell comfortable yet fabulous-looking apparel in this area, and higher-end customers can roam through the COACH store.
Kate Spade and Pandora provide other spots for impulse buyers to make their credit card companies very happy. On the lower end, there’s a Sephora here, too.
We swear to you we’re only mentioning a few of the stores, too. Disney Springs would qualify as one of the largest outdoor shopping malls in the world if Disney categorized it that way.
As for the dining, you can go as basic as Blaze Pizza. It’s one of our favorite places at home, but it’s probably not your best option for dining at Disney Springs unless you want a great slice for cheap.
You should be targeting something like Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ instead. It’s the ultimate in Disney World comfort food, but you’ll definitely need a reservation. This place sells every table…early.
While we’re on that subject, we’ll alert you to the fact that Disney doesn’t own and operate all the restaurants at Disney Springs. Why does this matter to you?
Well, many of them list their tables on OpenTable as well. So, while something may show as sold out in My Disney Experience, you may find something available on OpenTable.
Anecdotally, this happens a lot. Since restaurants establish their own cancellation policies on OpenTable, you may find them less restrictive should you need to cancel, too.
We’re speaking in broad strokes here, as some of the most popular dining spots will have even more restrictive cancellation policies. Still, it never hurts to look.
You may find better opportunities on OpenTable. So, we encourage you to check that app and My Disney Experience. Then, compare them and pick the one that best suits your needs.
Now that we have that conversation out of the way, let’s go back to the deliciousness! Town Center hosts fewer restaurants than some of the other Neighborhoods.
However, the prices are often better here. We already mentioned Blaze, and there’s also a D-Luxe Burger here. It’s right by the Disney Springs Welcome Center, making it easy to find.
Disney Vacation Club members will be happy to know that you can visit the facility here as well. It’s a great place for high-quality photo ops, including some with characters.
While you’re in this section of Disney Springs, you can eat at The Polite Pig, too! You may not know what that is, but the owners of this barbecue joint are Central Florida legends.
They have a couple of popular spots in the region, The Ravenous Pig and Cask & Larder. It was a coup by Disney to persuade them to open The Polite Pig at Disney Springs.
You’ll find the food tasty and the prices shockingly affordable. That’s the nice thing about Town Center. The food isn’t as expensive here, even at Art Smith’s Homecomin’.
When we discuss the other Neighborhoods, some of the prices may give you sticker shock.
Before we get to that, we’ll add that you’ll adore the treats at Amorette’s Patisserie. Finally, against David’s strenuous objections, Kim warmly recommends The Daily Poutine.
If you’ve never tried this Canadian delicacy, it’s a cheese-fries dish that’s not for everyone – See: David – but its fans are devout about it. Poutine’s an excellent “I tried this for the first time on vacation” food.
West Side
You’ll find West Side to the left/west of Town Center. In fact, if you’re anything like us, you’ll stumble upon it almost by accident.
You can tell that you’re in the right place when you notice three different unmistakable buildings. West Side is home to Drawn to Life by Cirque du Soleil. It’s pretty much the end of Disney Springs.
You’ll locate the Cirque du Soleil building by the Strawberry Parking Lot and boat dock. It’s the foremost entertainment option here, as Cirque du Soleil shows don’t exactly grow on trees.
Remarkably, there’s plenty of competition in this small part of Disney Springs, though. The AMC DINE-IN Disney Springs 24 is right down the block from the Cirque building.
We’d never recommend that a Disney vacationer spend two hours in a movie theater. Having said that, it’s a full-service restaurant with a strong Disney connection.
Whenever a new Disney movie debuts in theaters, you’ll typically find some sort of tie-in at the AMC DINE-IN. The stars of the film sometimes even make media appearances here.
In between these two buildings, you’ll eventually find LEVEL99, as well as our beloved Splitsville Luxury Lanes. Technically, this is a combo restaurant and bowling alley.
In reality, this place proves an excellent hangout spot at all times and especially when there’s a big game happening. Splitsville doubles as a sports bar with tons of HDTVs.
In terms of restaurants, you’ve hit the motherlode. Jaleo, the restaurant by Jose Andres, celebrity chef and Nobel Prize nominee, serves delicious shareables, including Iberico Ham.
On a personal level, we are lost in admiration for Andres, whose World Central Kitchen serves food to people during crises. So, we always encourage people to dine at his restaurants.
Meanwhile, CityWorks Eatery & Pour House opened relatively recently compared to most of the other restaurants listed here. It’s quickly become a go-to spot for a good beer. The food’s pretty good, too.
Across the street from it, you’ll find House of Blues, a dynamic place to eat Sunday Brunch at Disney Springs. It’s also THE place to go for live music.
Of course, buskers and paid musicians perform throughout the week at Disney Springs. So, you’ll never lack for live music here. Circling back to House of Blues, the new Smokehouse here has good reviews.
Another chef we love, Wolfgang Puck, hosts another celebrity dining experience here. It’s Wolfgang Puck® Bar & Grill. To the Puckmobile! (Apologies to non-Simpsons fans.)
Speaking of celebrity chefs, Guy Fieri started the Chicken Guy! franchise at Disney Springs. So, even if you have one in your area, you may want to check out the original.
This eatery serves one of the cheapest meals at Disney Springs. Also, sauce connoisseurs will smile all day after eating here. The restaurant offers more than 200 different sauces!
In terms of amazing tourist meals, you’ll be hard-pressed to do better than Planet Hollywood Observatory. We know this chain has lost its luster, but the observatory justifies the meal. The desserts are comically decadent, too.
One of the new kids on the block at Disney Springs is Summer House on the Lake, a fine-dining experience that’s all about California cuisine and breezy vibes. At a minimum, make sure to visit The Cookie Bar here!
You’ll also find the Disney Springs food trucks at Town Center. When you want good food for cheap, the food trucks are THE best place to go.
Oh, and Starbucks fans will want to visit West Side to get your fix. This one’s a bit different than most in that it sells shareables, including protein boxes.
On the shopping front, Town Center’s the worst of the four quadrants, in our opinion. Still, you shouldn’t miss Super Hero Headquarters and Star Wars Galactic Outpost for all your Marvel and Star Wars needs.
You may want to window-shop at Sunglasses Hut while you’re here as well. It never hurts to have a backup pair or two at a theme park.
On the candy front, you’ll find the M&Ms Store here, as well as the Candy Cauldron. We’re big fans of both. There’s an apparel story called Disney Style in this area as well.
Finally, we’d be remiss if we failed to mention the most unique tourist attraction at Disney Springs. Aerophile – The World Leader in Balloon Flight is a giant tethered balloon that will float you 400 feet in the air.
We’ve done this a couple of times, and we’ll level with you that it’s nothing special, especially for the price. Still, when you visit Disney Springs, you’ll definitely feel the temptation.
Should you decide to take flight on Aerophile, you should take comfort in knowing that the photo package will be spectacular!
The Landing
We’ll lead with the dining at The Landing, as it’s our favorite section of Disney Springs. Our devotion begins at The BOATHOUSE, which we love for multiple reasons.
For starters, Steven Schussler, the creator of Rainforest Café and T-REX, helped us book what might have been the first reservations ever at this restaurant. The staff there indicated they were.
We met friends for the first time here after they’d previously worked on our website, Box Office Prophets, for the body of a decade. So, that’s a warm memory right there.
Also, we took Kim’s parents here during their 50th anniversary world tour. So, we’ll always have a soft spot in our hearts for this restaurant. Even if we didn’t, we love it, though.
Central Florida locals know that it’s a spectacular place to hang out and enjoy the vibes at Disney Springs. The menu stretches in price, meaning there’s something that can fit any budget.
In terms of ambiance, the piano bar here provides a relaxing entertainment backdrop. As for the view, you’re looking at the waters of Disney Springs.
In fact, The BOATHOUSE offers Amphicar tours. These adorable cars can drive on land but also sail on the water. These rides aren’t cheap, but they’re truly unforgettable. Folks, we swear by The BOATHOUSE!
We’re almost as emphatic about The Edison, one of the most fabulous places to visit at Disney Springs. It’s a steampunk restaurant and nightclub.
The look and style of the place mesmerizes us, as do the odd television videos of long-forgotten movies and animated clips. It feels like the evil clone of Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant.
Live performers here show off their eclectic skills in burlesque dancing, gymnastics, and live music.
We spent Halloween night here in 2020 when the pandemic had cancelled Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. It’s a trippy place to be on this particular holiday.
You’ll love the theming, and you should definitely try some of the retro-science cocktails and especially the “Clothesline” Candied Bacon. It’s so marvelously touristy.
Speaking of theming, you’ll find a charming trifecta of restaurants and bars here. The main spot is Maria & Enzo’s Ristorante, an Italian restaurant with a golden age of airplanes theme.
Enzo apparently paid for this establishment by being a rumrunner. You can drink his secret stash at Enzo’s Hideaway, a prohibition-era bar. Finally, the fictional duo serves slices at Pizza Ponte.
As Iron Chef fans from way back when – early in our relationship, we bonded over the Japanese show – we’re morally obligated to recommend Morimoto Asia.
Iron Chef Morimoto hasn’t lost his touch since moving to America, and the restaurant offers special events several times each year, too. If you want a quick bite, try Morimoto Street Food for dinner.
Wine aficionados are similarly in for a treat at Wine Bar George. It’s been named as having the Best Wine List in North America.
Terralina Crafted Italian features another celebrity chef: former James Beard winner and Top Chef Masters competitor Tony Mantuano. The “Best Chef in the Midwest” crafted the menu.
Also, David wants his fellow steak lovers to know that STK Orlando, while pricey, definitely lives up to the hype. You can occasionally watch live music here as well.
Alternatively, you can watch Irish dancers perform at Raglan Road Irish Pub and Restaurant. If there were a Disney Springs popularity contest, this place may win. It’s beloved among tourists.
For that matter, so is its neighbor, Paradiso 37, which we happen to prefer. That is NOT the consensus opinion about Disney Springs guests, though.
Speaking of our favorites, we love dining on the Empress Lilly, the famous Disney Springs boat named after Walt Disney’s wife, Lillian. It’s a fancy meal at a restaurant called Paddlefish.
You can eat a fancy (and expensive) meal here while texting your friends, “I’m on a boat!” For special occasions,
For sweet treats, we suggest the decadent dishes at Vivoli il Gelato, the Ganachery, Gideon’s Bakehouse, and Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC. You should make sure to get a big cookie at Gideon’s!
In terms of shopping, The Landing isn’t the best spot, either. By now, you’ve probably realized which regions are best for food vs. shopping vs. entertainment.
Still, you can buy some more sunglasses at Oakley, sandals at Havaianas, or hats at Chapel Hats. Savannah Bee Company, a place where we shop often in Pigeon Forge, also sells its honey at Disney Springs.
Finally, David wants you to know that you can buy hammocks at a place called Swings N’ Things. For this reason, he always refers to The Landing as “the hammock district.” IYKYK.
Marketplace
Kids can ride a couple of delightful children’s attractions in this section of Disney Springs. The more popular one is probably the Marketplace Train Express, which isn’t free, but it’s only a couple of bucks.
There’s also a classic carousel with 19 horses here. It’s not free, either, as it requires a token to ride.
At last check, tokens started at $5, but you can get a much better rate on a token pack. Kids cannot ride this carousel alone until they’re 42 inches tall, so please be aware of that.
Most importantly, you’ll notice various acts performing at the Marketplace Stage in this area. These performers can do just about anything.
We’ve even seen marching band tryouts here. So, always keep your head on a swivel in case something interesting is happening on the stage.
In terms of shopping, Marketplace is the only place you’ll ever really need to go, as it’s home to World of Disney, the mecca for all Disney merchandise.
We also love hanging out at Tren-D, which sells H2O bath products, and Once Upon a Toy, a Disney toy store.
David’s not much of a shopper, yet he’s grabbed plenty of gear at Marketplace Co-Op. This unique building hosts several shops, some of which change occasionally.
The one constant has been D-Tech on Demand. You can (and David usually does) buy customizable Disney cases and other gadgets designed on demand here.
Something else you’ll want to know is LEGO Imagination Center sits in the same area as World of Disney. So, you can load up on exclusive LEGO sets while you’re here.
Simpsons fans will love that there’s an (unaffiliated) store called Lefty’s – The Lefty Hand Store. Yes, someone created Ned Flanders’ Leftorium in real life and stuck it at Disney Springs!
We’ve mentioned other candy places in other sections, but our personal favorite is Goofy’s Candy Company, which sells sour candy we buy in bulk and keep around the house for months afterward.
While we’re shopping at Disney Springs, we often compromise, as Kim collects pins, while David loooooves Christmas decorations. So, she’ll go to Disney’s Pin Traders, while he spends far too much money at Disney Days of Christmas.
We have also decorated a couple of walls of our house with paintings we’ve acquired at The Art of Disney. Our one word of warning here is that this stuff is hard to get back home. Please speak with a Cast Member about potential options before purchasing.
In terms of dining, we’d argue that you really only need to know about two places, although we’ll mention a few others.
The biggies for us are T-REX Café, a gloriously loud and chaotic Table Service restaurant, and Earl of Sandwich, the pride of Disney Springs.
T-REX is another place where we first met a longtime Box Office Prophets writer and friend. We couldn’t hear a word anyone said throughout the meal, though. That’s how loud the place is.
You’re probably wondering why, and the explanation centers on the theming here. Every 20 minutes, the ceiling recreates the asteroid strike that killed the dinosaurs.
This shiny show absolutely delights children, who grow even louder than usual. So, parents with headache concerns should avoid this place. Everyone else will love it, and the food’s great!
T-REX is actually the sibling of Rainforest Café, which also has a location in this area in addition to the one at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Based on our experience, the one at Disney Springs is better, but T-REX is best!
For those of you who want cheap, tasty food, Earl of Sandwich has evolved into a Disney icon.
There’s one at Disneyland Resort that management has closed multiple times. It just won’t stay down because fans keep demanding its return. The Disney Springs version is similarly beloved.
Marketplace also doubles as a coffee turf war, with Joffrey’s and Starbucks both serving cups of joe here. There are plenty of other shacks and kiosks in the area, too.
The longstanding ones include B.B. Wolf’s Sausage Co. (which serves hot dogs and beer), Dockside Margaritas, Marketplace Snacks, and Swirls on the Water.
We realize that the sheer totality of shopping options at Disney Springs sounds overwhelming. Well, we’ve been there and speak from experience when we say the following.
You will adjust almost immediately, quickly learning where to hang out when you want to shop versus eat/drink versus hang out and watch a show.
If anything, you’ll grow to love the full-service nature of Disney Springs. We suspect you’ll love it so much that its siren song will lure you away from the theme parks more than you initially anticipate.
Shopping at Disney Springs
Look, if you enjoy shopping, you’re going to want to set aside a day at Disney Springs. It has something for you, for me, for your cousin Bobby, and your best friend Lisa. Whether you’re looking for Disney merchandise, LEGO sets, tea, clothing, or candy, Disney Springs has it ALL.
For this section, we’re going to organize the stores by Neighborhood since Disney Springs is so expansive. It’ll help you prioritize and plan your trip more efficiently, especially if you have limited time to spend here.

These stylish flip-flops from Brazil have been around since 1962, and though we definitely do NOT recommend flip-flops for a day at the parks, these are perfect for hanging out beside the pool or walking on the beach.
Just Fun Socks
A fun fact about Kim is that she loves socks of all kinds. This kiosk is made for her and people like her. There are animal-themed socks, socks inspired by different professions, holiday socks, and other novelties. Not everyone will get excited about this place, but Kim instantly wonders if they have any with capybaras on them.
